Consensus introduces Skills: research on repeat

Consensus launched Skills, prebuilt workflows in Deep mode for tasks such as literature reviews, citation snowballing, finding sources for a claim and checking a draft's citations. Each skill reads papers from its corpus and returns findings with the supporting passages.

What the article says

Consensus, a research search tool, announced Skills on October 5, 2026, in a post by Connor MacLean. The starting point: research is more than finding a few good papers; people search, read, follow citations and search again, and writing adds more checking. Skills offers ready-to-run workflows, selected from the query box, that run in Consensus's multi-step Deep mode over a corpus of more than 220 million peer-reviewed papers and return findings with the supporting papers and passages.

Four skills are available at launch: Literature Review (up to 20 parallel searches and 100 papers read), Citation Snowballing (references and citing papers from one paper), Reverse Citation Search (finding sources for a claim) and Verify Citations (each citation in a draft is labeled as supporting, contradicting or not addressing the claim). The post stresses that users remain responsible for judging the relevance and soundness of studies, and that a does-not-support verdict is a reason to read the passage rather than a ruling.
